From humble beginnings, Athlegen has grown to become a market-leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of massage and treatment equipment and a true Australian success story.

When Jeff Toering and Rick Schmidt started the company more than 20 years ago, they had one thing in mind – durability. As masseurs themselves, the pair wanted to create a new breed of robust portable massage tables that would stand the test of time.

Athlegen has since branched out to design and supply an extensive range of massage and treatment equipment, including portable massage tables, power lift tables and seated massage chairs. But the company’s original commitment to quality and durability has remained.

Today, Athlegen tables can be found in all corners of the globe. From its base in Ballarat, the company has developed into an internationally recognised brand, exporting to more than 35 countries across the Asia-Pacific, America, Europe and the Middle East.

Athlegen has gained the seal of approval from elite athletes too. The Victorian Institute of Sport uses and endorses Athlegen tables and the Australian Olympic Team has chosen the company as its official treatment table supplier for the past two decades. This has seen Athlegen proudly provide tables to Australian athletes at the Olympic Games in Beijing, Athens, Sydney and Atlanta and the recent Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

With a reputation for quality and comfort, Athlegen tables have also been selected for some of the world’s most luxurious spa locations, from coastal resorts in Broome to 7-star hotels in Dubai.

The Athlegen team, which was once a handful of loyal employees, now includes more than 40 staff dedicated to supplying both Australian and overseas markets with the highest quality massage and treatment equipment.
After a few years away pursuing other interests, Jeff and Rick are now back with the company they founded, providing strategy and direction on Athlegen’s future and focusing on what they do best – designing the strongest and most reliable massage tables available.
